Some interesting studies dealing with memory

(taken from Moonwalking with Einstein by Joshua Foer)

A.R. Luria – The Mind of a Mnemonist – studied man with synesthesia and a superhuman spatial memory, how he memorized things: “When [he] read through a long series of words, each world would elicit a graphic image […] he would ‘distribute’ them along some roadway or street he visualized in his mind”

Picture Recognition test – (1970’s study) participants shown 10,000 images for less then half a second each, later asked two pictures, asked to choose which one had seen before. people remembered more than 80% of what they had seen

Willem Wagenaar – dutch psychologist, diary of daily notable events, looked back 6 years later, recalled all except 10, went back to those people, eventually recalled all.
